Summer Student- TECHNOLOGY AND COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER

 

Since 2006, the Canadian Obesity Network - Réseau Canadien en l’obésité has been operating as a not-for-profit corporation established under the Networks of Centres of Excellence New Initiative (NCE-NI) program.

 

The mission of is to reduce the burden of obesity on Canadians by linking obesity researchers with health professionals, policy makers and other stakeholders to foster knowledge translation, capacity building and partnerships. In alignment with its mission, CON-RCO strives to promote research excellence, train researchers and practitioners, build national consensus on obesity policy and create added value through partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders. 

 

As a non-profit organization, funded in part by the Networks of Centres of Excellence New Initiative program, CON-RCO depends on external partner funding to sustain its knowledge translation, capacity, and networking initiatives.

 

This is a term position running June 5th to August 31st, 2017 intended for a university/post secondary student returning to school in the Fall or a Grade 12 graduate that will be attending full time at a post secondary institution in the Fall.

 

The TECHNOLOGY AND COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER works closely with the CON office administrator.

The incumbent must have exceptional computer skills with a solid understanding of office procedures and practices. The candidate should also possess strong communication, customer relations and organizational skills. He/she also works well on his/her own, but is also able to work as part of a

creative team. Experience working with web design or html would be a strong asset. The successful candidate will demonstrate an interest in taking on increasing responsibility, an aptitude for learning on the job, and enthusiasm.

 

The position is for 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, and may include some evening events.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with the enhancement of the CON website
  • Assist with issues or duties related to information technology and communication, as they pertain to our programs

 

Qualifications and experience:

  • Fulltime student who will be returning to school in the fall
  • Experience with Microsoft operating systems and Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel etc.)
  • Experience in information technology/web design an asset
  • Self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team
  • Time management, communication and organizational skills are essential
